About the project
The Free Collection began in early 2026 with a simple observation: the most popular online tools have not changed their design in a decade. Calculator sites still look like they were built for Internet Explorer. File converters still upload your files to unknown servers. Timer apps still require account creation for a countdown. The opportunity was not to build something revolutionary, but to build something that respects the user: modern design, fast performance, zero friction, genuinely free.
The project is built by one independent developer based in France. No team, no investors, no startup culture. Just one person shipping one tool at a time, each on its own dedicated domain, each designed to be the best version of itself.
A dedicated sleep calculator site serves you better than a "sleep" tab inside a 500-tool platform. Each micro-site gets its own visual identity, its own performance budget, and its own SEO strategy. This architecture means every site loads fast, ranks for its specific niche keywords, and feels purpose-built rather than template-generated. It also means each site can evolve independently without affecting the others.
The Free Collection exists as the catalog layer: a single place where you can discover all these tools, understand what each one does, and navigate to the one you need. Think of it as the table of contents for a library of tools.
Every site follows the same technical principles: static HTML with inline CSS and JavaScript, hosted on standard web servers, no backend, no database, no API dependencies. This architecture means pages load in under 1.5 seconds, tools work offline after the initial load, and your data never leaves your browser. Google Fonts are the only external dependency beyond analytics and ad scripts.
Each site goes through a structured process: keyword research and competitive analysis, design mockup and visual identity, detailed build specification, development, quality audit, and deployment. The cadence is roughly 2 to 4 new sites per month, prioritizing quality and uniqueness over speed.
New sites launch every 2 to 4 weeks. Each one gets a full cycle: research the niche, study the competitors, design a unique visual identity, build the tools, audit everything, deploy. There is no rush to reach a number. The portfolio grows steadily because steady growth compounds. Twenty well-built sites generate more value than a hundred rushed ones.
There is no email newsletter and that is intentional. If you have an idea for a free tool that should exist, submit it here. Every suggestion is read. Some get built. The best ideas come from people who actually need the tool.
