Got an idea for a free tool?

The best tools in this collection started as suggestions from people who needed something and could not find a good free version online. If you have an idea for a tool that should exist, share it below. Every submission is read. Some get built. There is no newsletter signup, no marketing follow-up. If you provide your email and your idea gets selected, you may receive a one-time reply. That is it.

What to expect

Every submission is read within two weeks. Not every idea becomes a tool, but all are tracked and considered. If your idea aligns with the collection's focus on interactive, genuinely useful tools, it goes into the build queue. Building a quality site takes 1 to 3 weeks from brief to deployment, so patience is appreciated.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

No. Every suggestion is read and tracked, but building a quality tool takes significant time. Ideas are evaluated based on user demand, niche opportunity, and how well they fit the collection's focus on genuinely useful, interactive tools.
If you provide your name with your submission and your idea leads to a new tool, you will be mentioned in the site's launch notes. If you submit anonymously, the idea is still tracked and appreciated.
Watch the homepage for new tool announcements. Each new site gets featured when it launches. There is no public roadmap or voting system: ideas are evaluated and prioritized internally.

How to submit a free tool idea that can actually be built

A short, clear idea is easier to evaluate than a long, vague one. The steps below help you write a suggestion that someone can turn into a working tool.

Step by step

  1. Describe the problem first. Start with what you were trying to do and what got in your way. The problem matters more than the solution you have in mind.
  2. Pick the closest category. Choose Calculator, Generator, Converter, Daily Game or Utility. If nothing fits, choose Other and explain in the text.
  3. List the inputs. What does the visitor type in or select? Name each field and its unit.
  4. Describe the result. What should the visitor see at the end? A number, a list, a file, a score?
  5. Add your name and email only if you want to. Both fields are optional.
  6. Send it. One idea per submission keeps things clear.

A worked example

Weak idea: "A cooking tool."

Better idea: "A recipe scaler. I enter the number of servings in the original recipe, the number I want, and the ingredient amounts. The tool gives me the new amounts."

The second version already defines the logic. Say the recipe serves 4 and calls for 300 g of flour, and you want to serve 6. The scale factor is 6 ÷ 4 = 1.5. The new amount is 300 × 1.5 = 450 g. If you include a small case like this, the builder can check that the tool gives the right answer.

Questions about writing your idea

How long should my description be?

A few sentences are enough. Cover the problem, the inputs and the result you expect. Long descriptions are fine, but the key points should come first.

Can I suggest an improvement to a tool that already exists here?

Yes. Choose the category that fits best and name the tool. Explain what is missing, such as a unit, an option or a clearer result.

Should I send a link to a similar tool?

You can describe it in the text. Say what you liked and what you would change. Keep in mind that the goal is a tool that is simpler and more useful, not a copy.
